G Shock versus Ontfront

Watch label Casio G-Shock has launched its first Dutch collaboration with OntFront. The young menswear label was chosen by Casio because OntFront represents Dutch fashion and a renewing streetstyle. Liza Koifman, designer for OntFront, chose to work with the model  GA-110C, which is digital and analog at the same time. The watch is matt black and the strap is printed with a pixalized snakeskin pattern.

The G-Shock watch was launched by Casio in 1983, changing the idea that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry: it is the world’s most sturdy watch and can withstand extreme circumstances. The popularity of this model grew explosively in the nineties, but Casio has not stopped developing: nowadays the watch uses solar energy, radiotechnology and new materials to help keep it the most resistable watch ever.

OntFront is on the market since 2008 and brings us a mix between classic menswear and renewing streetstyles. The first official brand store was opening in january 2011 in the centre of Amsterdam and the brand is currently working on a webshop.

To celebrate the collaboration between Casio and OntFront a ‘soundtrack’ was made and it features a video campaign which can be viewed on our website here. The vocals in the song are by Afaka (Geoffrey Sijlbing) and the music was produced by the duo Fret Hinge. The video was shot by Marnix Postma and Naveen Kalloe. The cast consists of Geoffrey Sijlbing, Ruben Solognier, Riquel Gilliad and Eva Bartels.

The watch is a limited edition: only 50 copies were made in Japan, numbered by hand.  The watch is for sale at the OntFront store en Gorilli in Rotterdam.
