Earlier this year, a study argued that our society had reached its peak level of facial hair, and more accurately of the beard. Those lucky enough to be able to grow proper facial hair were falling out of favour because hipster beards were everywhere. However, it seems to have been a momentary loss of faith and in March 2015, Somerset House will showcase photos of the best beards around. Photographer Brock Elbank brings his collection of 80 bearded images that include photos from his project to raise awareness for skin cancer. From legendary actor John Hurt and tattoo artist Miles Better to models and a bearded woman named Harnaam Kaur, who has been growing a beard since the age of 16 after being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, a condition which causes excess hair growth.

Beard will run at Somerset House from March 5 until March 29 of next year.
