Mac DeMarco in ‘Pepperoni Playboy: A Macumentary’

‘Salad Days’ by Mac DeMarco is one of the most promising albums to have been released in 2014 so far. In the last year, DeMarco has gained a large following thanks to his quirky personality. ‘Pepperoni Playboy’ is a short “macumentary” on the musician and his band, giving us a look into his small recording area, the process of making ‘Salad Days’, and a lot of self-shot footage of DeMarco and the band messing about during their Asian tour. But first and foremost, the documentary is a half hour of absorbing DeMarco’s weird charisma and fun personality.

Or as Pitchfork.tv describes it:

“Directed by Jon Leone, Pepperoni Playboy, a 34-minute “macumentary” shot in part by DeMarco and bandmate Pierce McGarry, follows Mac as he hams it up on tour in China, shows off his Jizz Jazz Studios in Brooklyn, and takes the piss out of DIIV and Bon Iver. Along the way, he shows us “how to make acoustic guitars rock,” gives hot tips to aspiring young indie rockers, and pulls off a shower scene not unlike the one in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, if it happened on a toilet.”
