This year’s edition of Solar Weekend Festival again welcomes a diverse musical line-up from house, jazz and techno to African beats, hip hop and much more. The creative cross over festival takes place on 1-4 August at the Maasplassen in Roermond. Earlier, the organisation had released the creative line-up and a few names of the music programme.

Solar Weekend Festival is known for its varied and broad music programme with both national and international artists. The festival will offer eight music stages with each its own colourful, creative set and genre. From relaxed jazz to deep techno, from classical to energetic hip hop, and from established artists to upcoming bands.

This diversity is also visible in the line-up of the main stage. One of the sunniest headliners is bound to be the African jazz-dance duo Goldfish, consisting of two blonde South African surf dudes. Soul jazz is found with Sven Hammond Soul on Sunday, while Benga ft. P Money brings dubstep to this stage. After cancelling last year, Birdy Nam Nam will be present to make up for not being there in 2012. Other names on the main stage are Goose (live), Buraka Som Sistema, Fresku & FeestDJRuud, The Opposites, Staygold, Nobody Beats The Drums, and many others.

Technolab will be hosted by Elite on Saturday and on Sunday by Blueprint with the best techno by international artists such as Josh Wink, Darren Emerson, James Ruskin (live), and Sandwall District. DJ threesome DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Mark Farina will tie Solar Weekend together with their unique show. The House of House will invite both golden oldies (Roog, Erick E, Gregor Salto, and Benny Rodrigues) and newcomers (Yellow Claw, Flexican & Sef) and will be complemented by When Harry met Sally, Mightyfools, Dem Slackers, Girls Love DJs, Surkin, and Club Cheval.

Solar Weekend is focused on collaboration, both in its music and creative programme. Missin’ Link and his Hip Hop Galore will again host the ‘Hip Hop Court’ on Saturday with headliners such as Safi & Spreej, Nitty Wow with Kraantje Pappie, and Kleine Viezerik. On Sunday, this court transforms into an area with contemporary bass, thanks to dubstep, grime and trap. This ‘Oi! meets Boycott’ court will be hosted by Gomes and Guerilla Speakerz. Joost van Bellen will also be present with his RAUW stage and brings Surkin and Mike Mago, whereas the new ‘Jukebox’ stage will host diverse creative and musical collectives alternating each other.
