Last Sunday the first retrospective show of Swiss artist Urs Fischer opened at the Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art. The exhibition pays tribute to the somewhat macabre surrealist and quite complex sculptures that are created by an aluminum casting process, hewn in wood and then cast in wax. Besides the giant installations his renowned tongue-in-cheek mash-up of fruits and vegetables and 1940s-inspired portraits are exhibited. The exhibition is shown between MOCA’s Grand Avenue and Geffen Contemporary spaces through August 2013.
