CARRIE
I always wondered why there wasn’t yet a re-make of Stephen Kings ‘Carrie’ that Robert De Palma directed in 1976, featuring the magnetic Sissy Spacek.‘Carrie’ is a classic high school horror movie; Teenage daughter grows up under the strict parenting of a religious-freak of a mother and turns out to have telekinetic powers that emerge uncontrollably whenever she gets upset. Things just get very dramatic at school. That’s all I will say, incase you haven’t seen the movie yet. In the new 2013 version (which will be released on October 18th) Julianne Moore plays the religious obsessed mother and ‘Carrie’ is played by the 16 year old Chloë Grace Moretz. Looking at the trailer I have to unfortunately admit that I am not sure if this version of ‘Carrie’ can overrule the 1976 version, especially when you compare the electric transformation Sissy Spacek performed with the 2013 scene by Chloë Grace Moretz. Though ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ Kimberly Peirce directed the movie I kind of wished Sophia Coppola had done it instead. But who knows, we’ll have to wait and see in October to fully judge it. In the mean time I definitely advise to see the 1976 version. Check out the trailer below of ‘Carrie’ 2013 as well as ‘Carrie’ 1976 .
