Experimental Frog Fun
Head over to Harlan Levey Projects in Brussels this weekend to experience a unique workshop and exhibition by Chinese artist Frog King Kwok. In collaboration with Harlan Levey Projects and No New Enemies, Frog King and Queen organize a four-day experimental workshop.
The Frog Fun Workshop is a rare opportunity to work and learn with one of the most charismatic and influential artists of our lifetime. Participants will assist the Frog King in creating an experimental exhibition that includes paintings, sculptures, and performance documentation. The exhibition will be open to the public for one month and hosted by Harlan Levey Projects. Held for four consecutive days, the Frog Fun Workshop will offer specific team building objectives such as collaborative co-creation, communication techniques, lateral thinking, and problem solving.
Frog King Kwok has had an immeasurable impact on contemporary art and design. Born in China in 1947, he quickly went to Hong Kong and NYC, where he was part of the 1980s Lower East Side art scene. Kwok was one of the first Chinese performance and conceptual artists and since 1967 has produced performances, sculptures, paintings and installations in over 3000 events around the world. In 2011, he was honored as the Hong Kong representative at the 2011 Venice Biennale.
Frog Queen Cho Hyun Jae was born in Korea and has been living in Hong Kong since 1997. She founded the ‘Front Art Studio’ in Oil Street in 1998 and ‘Kwok Art Institute’ in 2001. She has produced painting, installation, photography and performance art for over 30 years, and is based in Hong Kong for the past two decades where she works as a designer, artist and lecturer.
The workshop and exhibition will be crazy and fun and it’s Frog King Kwok’s first exhibition in Belgium, so it’s definitely a unique experience. It takes place on 6-7-8-9 April, from 11h until 18h. Tickets cost €25 per day, €20 if purchased through nonewenemies.net and €15 with a student card. There is a limited number of 20 places a day so be quick to book yours through [email protected].
