Last Sunday night, the Oscar for Best Short Film (Live Action) went to Curfew, a beautiful drama about a man on the verge of suicide who gets a call from his estranged sister to take care of her daughter for a day. Especially stunning is the performance of young lead actress Fátima Ptacek and the chemistry between her and writer/director/lead actor Shawn Christensen. The first meeting between the two is very cold, but along the way their relationship becomes immensely warm and heartfelt. A deserved Academy Award, thanks to the superb contrast between a man at the end of his rope, and a person at the beginning of her life. Take a look at the trailer below:
