Tales of food

There are different styles of food photography out there; minimal, decorative, editorial, blogger style, commercial, and those endless Instagram posts (that I am also guilty of). But this kind of food photography I have not seen before! Nadege Meriau creates landscape-like pictures that remind me of paintings of Romantic era, like the amazing sea sights by J.M.W. Turner. We see caves of chocolate mousse, pumpkin and watermelon; bread rock formations; arctic whisked eggs and so on. Meriau presents food in a way that is definately not your average sweet cupcake story, but which has a haunting darkness about it. At the same time the images are also reminiscent of photos taken from inside the human body, where the food will eventually end up. Amazing!
