Studio Wieki Somers have collaborated with chocolatier Rafael Mutter to create this beautiful Chocolate Mill. The Chocolate Mill was created for the major Gerrit Rietveld retrospective of Vitra Design Museum, for which the latter invited five of the most innovative Dutch designers to collaborate with a partner in developing a design project. 

 

The carrousel was made by adapting a machine which is mainly used in Switzerland as a cheese slicer. The three-dimensional aspect of the carrousel was extended by the fourth dimension of time: by rotaint the carrousel’s arm, the chocolate is scraped away and new images are revealed as the old ones fade away.

Small chocolate mills are on sale in the Vitra shop, including special chocolate for refilling.
