LCD Soundsystem came to an organised end on the 2^nd of April 2011. Releasing a last album, This is Happening, and announcing a last tour, the band said goodbye with a massive gig at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Now, a bit more than a year later, the documentary Shut up and Play the Hits is released. The film follows front man James Murphy over 48 hours – from the day of the final gig to the morning after. Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, they capture the intense emotions of an ending and the anxiety about growing old, a topic that is repeatedly explored in Murphy’s songs.

So far the documentary has only been shown at various film festival. This summer, on July 18, the documentary will screen in theaters across the US. No dates for Europe have been announced yet, so we wait with excitement.
