The 41st edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam is about to kick off next wednesday. A special treat the festival has to offer is the programme For Real, which is part of the section Signals. For Real is a series of ‘filmic experiences outside of the cinema’. Interaction between the virtual and physical reality becomes more and more natural to us in the age of smart phones, tablets and other wireless techniques. The borders between film and reality are fading more and more. This development is made apparent by For Real in the form of fifteen special events. 

For example: visitors of the festival can participate as an actor or an extra, but one can also become a filmmaker in the Home Movie Factory of Michel Gondry. Another spectacular event is ‘Eye Trap’ which features the execution of a soundtrack, composed especially for this event, by the Metropole Orchestra in the Cruise Terminal in Rotterdam. More info on the Signals: For Real programme can be found here.
