Kit Shyrixina

Her work visualizes a certain je ne sais quoi. Stills of moments in life, garments that lay in strange positions implying movement, the images make you stare and imagine what her world looks like.

S: Describe your visual aesthetic in 2 sentences?
K: As much as I am trying to convince myself that simple aesthetical beauty is an outdated thing, I still believe in ‘visually pleasant’ work and therefore I’m always trying to achieve it. On the other hand I really love ‘wabi-sabi’ (the Japanese aesthetic which celebrates imperfectness and incompleteness) so in the end I am trying to be neat, but never perfect.

S: When did your interest in fashion start?
K: I started getting into fashion about 5 years ago. Before that I was most out-of-fashion girl with a love for weird ‘lime green crocodile belt’ kind of stuff.

S: What influences you in general?
K: Odd things and surreal personal experiences. Somehow I’ve got this huge interest in things, which few find inspiring – something like Art & Science or “Book of Mysterious Beings” by Jorge Luis Borges. I just really like when people don’t really understand what I am talking about.

S: When it comes to stylists, who do you look up to?
K: I admire Venetia Scott a lot. As far as I’m concerned, she is never out of fashion..

S: You collaborate with Masha Mel a lot, what is your work relationship like?
K: We are good friends. Everything she does always comes out beautifully, so you don’t have to strain yourself out in order to get a good result. Everything is pretty much relaxed with her and it goes with the flow, that’s what I love about her.

S: What would your dream collaboration be?
K: The dreamiest dream is someone like Lars von Trier or Matisse, but then I never would’ve liked to collaborate on something and share my views with them, I would’ve prefer to just sit there in the corner and watch them work.

S: Where do you see yourself in 5 – 10 years?
K: Oh I don’t really think that far ahead, but I’d like to have a family and a quiet life. Doesn’t sound really aspiring, does it? :D
