Duvel Wants Creative Minds

Each year Duvel launches its Duvel Collection; a limited series of glasses designed by well-known and established artists. Arne Quinze (B), Parra (NL), Stefan Glerum (NL), and Eley Kishimoto (UK) among others have designed original glasses, which have become genuine collectors items in the meantime.

As of 1 October 2011 Duvel is organizing a competition where everyone is invited to let their talents loose on the iconic glass. The ten finalists will go to Paris for the presentation of the prize, which involves an international jury and the winning design in the Duvel Collection.

In addition to its brewing activities, the Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat has always had a soft spot for contemporary art, design and architecture. Regular involvements and partnerships include contemporary art museums such as SMAK and WIELS, and international events such as the Venice and Lyon Biennale. After successful cooperations for international trade fairs and events, Michel Moortgat and Arne Quinze went a step further in 2007. Arne Quinze took the Duvel bottle and glass in hand, leading to an original and limited series, where artists and designers work the Duvel glass in their own characteristic style.

The Duvel Collection was born. These colorful, striking glasses are manufactured on a strictly limited basis and very quickly become coveted collector’s items.

This year Duvel is also giving a young creative talent the opportunity to design a Duvel collection glass. An international competition (B-NL-FR-UK) runs from 1 October via the website. Everyone can send in his design and share it with friends through the different social media. The deadline is 15 December.

In addition to renown, the winner of this competition receives a great prize: his design ed glass will be permanently added to the Duvel Collection.

In every country there are also a second and third prize. 3 people of every country get the chance to go to Paris, where a unique Duvel Collection event will be held with a range of different designers, as a second prize, and get 50 glasses with their own design on it. The third prize goes to 10 people per country who will receive 6 glasses with their own design.
