London Fashion Week Special : From Women’s to Men’s

When traveling from women’s to menswear the influences of different regions of the world are always an inevitable factor to fashion. During London Fashion Week it seemed that the designers weren’t only hitting the beaches with their S/S12 garments.
Kokon-to-zai hit Africa, Maartin Van Der Horst hit Hawaii and Shaun Sampson hit Mexico.

KTZ’s collection featured bold prints and had all the club kids present bobbing their heads to the dance remixes of African tunes. With Masaii-like earrings and neck pieces the use of veil- and bondage-like hats seemed slightly odd.
Maartin Van Der Horst had a hit debut collection at Fashion East. His Print pieces with attached chiffon bikinis blew some fresh air through Fashion Week. Tamed towards the end of his show -the muted color suits were elegant and beautifully female.
Shaun Sampson’s menswear collection looked like a group of Mexicans heading to Miami. His use of textile made the collection vibrate with color and character and created something new in menswear, something exciting and wearable which is not sports led.
