Arabian Oud

In the luxurious world of today’s high street it is the Hermes bags, the Louis Vuitton accessories and the Vertu phones that are most obvious and seen everywhere. However, when sauntering in the streets of West London there is a luxury item that sticks out even more: Arabian Oud. As the elegance and beauty of flowing black garments of Arabian women glide past -dripping of wealth- their scent lingers on.

Oud is the Arabic word for incense derived from Agar wood, known in English as Aloes wood. It is the most expensive wood in the world and has acquired worth and value in many cultures for its distinctive fragrance.

The essential oil gained from Agar wood has acquired cultural and religious significance around the world, dating back to ancient civilizations. The scent of Oud gained extensive popularity across the Middle East and has become a popular domestic fragrance. It is also traditionally used as a welcoming aroma for guests.

The recent trend in home scent however is the room diffuser. Whether it be for your bathroom, kitchen or lounge, this oil based form of aroma is the best. It is a shame that the luxury blessed of today don’t turn back to the use of Oud as aromatherapy in their homes. Instead they use scents of the likes of Ralph Lauren.
