Central Saint Martins for Pringle of Scotland

With the heritage of brands being disregarded in recent years with the interest in newness and the way in which so many brands are harnessing modernity, there is a new come back for the tradition, heritage and wonderment of older brands infused with this modernity which is now de rigueur.

Fashion houses are changing the way in which they are seen, changing their designers, (talks of Marc Jacobs at Dior, Christophe Lemaire at Hermes). Also the way in which brands are publishing themselves in their bill board images are different. Years ago who would have though about Tilda Swinton and Pringle, however it’s happened and so has Central Saint Martins for Pringle.

A worldwide fashion house with a Scottish luxury prowess have teamed up with a college with a similar fashion standing. With five MA fashion students seeing the archives in Hawick, Scotland and creating numerous pieces based on their inspiration from the collection stored high in the Scottish countryside and their own work. These pieces designed by the students made by Pringle are currently to be seen at an exhibition curated by Fashion History and Theory students in the Sloane Square store in London. Along with the imagery, books and projections, the woollen pieces are displayed proudly on plinths in a white space towards the back of the store. With lions, block colours, painterly lines and gradients of colour being applied to well made tops, the pieces are flying off the shelves.

Thursday the 1st September is the press night at the store, so go and feast your eyes on the MA fashion design, Central Saint Martins, Pringle made masterpieces of modern beauty and minimalistic heritage.
