STRP Festival is celebrating it’s
5th year’s anniversary by presenting a retrospective of 50 years of Dutch media art and art & technology. A never before seen overview of the up-and-coming arts represented by pioneers, breakthrough artists and future greats.

STRP EXPO is a configuration—time capsule, snapshot, crystal ball—to explore the past, present and future. What are these cutting edge works telling us about the future of art & technology?

For many people, developments in the field of technology are happening in such a rapid pass, that it has become impossible to keep up with. Whether it be the way we communicate, are connected to each other and our mobile gadgets, or our perceptions of the world:

Meet Tibb, the World’s First AR—Augmented Reality—Rabbit developed by artist Sander Veenhof. Tibb the Rabbit is build to mutliply on digital platforms.

 

Daan Roosegaarde’s latest installations in which technology has become indiscernible to the point where you can literally see right through it. On the festival Intimacy 2.0 will be presented for the first time! “STRP visited the Translife Festival in Beijing where we were dazzled by the most electronic and sparkling starry sky ever seen in Edwin van der Heide’s Evolving Spark Network.”

 

Nano Chair 2.0. by Lucas Maassen at the EXPO. Measuring a mere 3 microns, it is the world’s smallest chair.

 

The Palm Top Theater (created by V2) features 3D films for your mobile. Several artists will be designing films exclusively for the Palm Top Theater at STRP EXPO!

Pioneers are represented by the iconic Legible City of Jeffrey Shaw, one of the first video installations and interactive artworks.

Other pioneers in the 1980s, including Erik Hobijn whose Suicide Machine created tremendous controversy at the time.
