Edwin Oudshoorn Wie Eine Hinde

The collection of Edwin Oudshoorn is based upon a perticular story set in the Second Worldwar. Joop Kotkamp was handed over by his own parents to the German conquerors. He was deported to a concentrationcamp. Fortunately his charme, flair and lifeforce favoured him with the camp guards: ‘Beautiful’ Johan — parading on red high heels he found — walks “Wie eine Hinde”. After seven months Joop escapes Germany an settles in Amsterdam.
There Joop builds his own fantasy world. Together with his buddy Jopie and their dog Fuji he manages to live happily. A house filled with color, splendor, gold and crystal and the occasional trip on a motorcycle to Salzbrug. But the treasen from his childhood never let’s him go. Untill his death in 2010 Joop is scarred by his treacherous parents. The story inspired Edwin Oudshoorn into creating his new collection.
The show was held in a building with brick wall, metal poles and barbwire… and a motorized airplane flew over to complete the effect of German occupation and a war going on in the past. Typical elements in the show were the shoes with hoofs for heels, refering to the title ‘Wie eine Hinde’. Silk-like Charmeuse, fine Tweed, ‘beaded’ fabrics, Lace and Voile, with now and then a flowery wall paper effect that comes to live. Salient detail is the pattern design which looks flowery but is based on the Jewish cross. The collection will be on display at Droog Amsterdam in the next days.
