Jasper Abels — graduate from the KABK

Photography: Jasper Abels

Jasper Abels strikes me like an ultimatedutchsoninlaw-type or the one who could sell you anything. Totaly confident and happy with the result of his graduation project: Copy/Paste and other kinds of magic.
Image manipulation is absolutely part of contemporary fashion photography. Through digital postprocessing images are perfected with outmost detail. Asides contemplations and questions on the subject, this new visual language offers unlimited magical possibilities and inspiration. In Jasper’s project a diversity of Photoshop tools regain a place in ‘reality’. Quite the opposite to the concept of Tron, where the human becomes part of a virtual environment. In his work virtual tools are applied into reality quite literally.
