Charmaine Olivia is a self-taught, California based artist. It all started with some drawing on napkins using soy sauce, now she paints on canvas, draws and photographs. Her paintings are the most impressing of the three disciplines. Her work has a strong feminine side as mostly everything she captures is feminine. A lot of the portrayed women have tattoos on their bodies what gives them a kind of toughness. Some of the drawings look super sweet and innocent like they could be placed on a birth card and others are more abstract or like doodles. So there’s a lot of different styles in her work but they all have the same fine lines and details. Olivia works for Urban Outfitters, Nylon Magazine and Cool Hunting amongst others. She was also selected by Lady Gaga to be one of the three artists to design a poster for Lady Gaga’s album release. Below you’ll see a selection of her work.
