Rabat + win!

rabatNext week – on June 9 – Habbekrats’ full-length debut film called Rabat will be released in Dutch cinemas. This long anticipated road movie revolves around 3 friends living in Amsterdam; Nadir (Nasrdin Dchar), Abdel (Achmed Akkabi) and Zakaria (Marwan Chico Kenzari), who are all of North-African origin. When Nadir has to drive his fathers old taxi from Amsterdam to Rabat, Marocco, his two best friends decide to come along. The road trip takes them through the European countryside to the Moroccan coast and it’s quite a bumpy ride. When Abdel and Zakaria find out Nadir’s secret destination of the trip, their friendship is about to get shattered to pieces…
The beautiful surroundings, the catchy soundtrack by rapper Sef (TopNotch) and the excellent cast account for a fast and funny, though touching film. Habbekrats managed to steer clear of the usual pitfalls when dealing with some common misconceptions and prejudice: Rabat is stirring without being pedantic or boring. Well done, Habbekrats.

To celebrate Habbekrats’ debut film, BLEND is giving away some goodies, such as the book The Road to Rabat by photographer Dennis Duijnhouwer, who travelled along to capture the journey, the novel Rabat, and 3×2 tickets to see the film. Send an email to bieneke@blend in order to win.
