Love Is What You Want

Love Is What You Want

Currently there’s an exhibition showcased at Hayward Gallery (London) by the British contemporary artist Tracey Emin. This exhibition, called Love Is What You Want, shows every period in her career, it even shows something of her actual period, as she displays her own used tampons. Besides this intimate piece there is a versatile range of disciplines shown, ranging from video, photography, sculptures, installations to needle work and more. The exhibition promises to be a very explicit one, as youngsters under 16 aren’t allowed in without an adult company.

Tracey Emin was born in London (1963) and holds a bachelor in fine arts of Maidstone College of Art and a master of the Royal College of Art. Emin is well known for her art piece Everyone I’ve Ever Slept With, which is a blue tent filled with names of people she shared her bed with from her grandmother to her boyfriend and even two fetuses. Emin uses her personal life as the starting point for her art, this often turns into confronting, sexual and feministic art pieces. The exhibition Love Is What You Want is set to run until August 29.
