We were quite curious about the ones responsible for the photography in the Monki campaign, so we looked them up. As it turns out, Aorta Photography – a Swedish company run by photographers Marco Grizelj and Kristian Krän – did the campaign. The way they mix photography with illustrations and the finishing touch of editing make the pictures more than just ads. It could simply be called art.

Although the images for Monki look like fairytales, Aorta Photography’s personal work is far more shocking, controversial and dark than that. Bodybuilding women and a chopped off pork’s head on silk sheets are just two examples of the personal subjects. Because of the very sleek photoshopping that make the images flawless and give them a surreal coat, it’s like the pictures are screenshots of a videogame.
