The Urban Artist

The Urban Artist is a travelling group exhibition that sets in Hamburg next week. Presenting a selection of progressive art by 15 international artists such as Jaybo Monk (Berlin), Aaron Rose (Los Angeles) and Christian Awe (Berlin), the exhibition is a great way to find out what urban art is today in the public eye. Urban art started out as graffiti on the streets but withholds so much more these days, think of fashion design, album cover designs and the transition of displaying on walls outside to the walls inside museums and galleries. This exhibition informs and dialogues with the audience about the paths from subcultural creativity to contemporary art.
In early 2011 Circleculture Gallery and curator Johann Heahling von Lanzenauer presented the first display of the Urban Artist at Soho House in Berlin. The second stop of the exhibition is in Hamburg and will run from June 9 until June 14. For more information about the displayed artists and details on the location visit Circleculture Gallery.
