Yesterday the opening of a new restaurant, called United Tastes Of 1097, took place. Sarriel Taus and Harry Puts launched a cool new concept; everybody can contribute to the restaurant, by sharing recipes, furniture and kitchenware. The number 1097 resembles the zip code of the restaurant’s location. With all the input of the locals United Tastes Of represents the neighborhood. At the opening Taus and Puts asked everyone to trade vintage 60-style furniture as well as other things needed in a restaurant for a delicious meal or drink.

Sarriel Taus is founder of restaurant fifteen and Harry Puts is the creative director of Made in May. They want to bring creativity, people and tastes together with this concept. They’re already planning to expand United Tastes Of with other branches; Taus and Puts aspire to make United Tastes Of a versatile brand with its own taste in each zip code.

According to the founders of United Tastes, healthy and sustainable foods should be affordable and available for everyone. There is a different recipe everyday, but since the restaurant is inspired by its locals, there aren’t any chosen recipes yet. The restaurant is mainly furnished in sixties style, that’s why they ask customers for retro-looking or vintage stuff. Outside the restaurant there’s a terrace where they use kettles as ashtrays. The meals are prepared with fresh and seasonable vegetables by disadvantaged young people with a talent for cooking. So this concept is healthy, sustainable and good for society!
