View the work of Kate MccGwire, a London-based artist with an unique choice of materials for her sculptures; molted feathers of pigeons which she collects on a natural base without harming any animals. These feathers – usually attached to birds – are brought to life by her amazing sculptures. The work is intriguing and it captures so much beauty. The process of these art pieces is time –consuming, as the artist states on her website ‘I gather, collate, re-use, layer, peel, burn, reveal, locate, question, duplicate, play and photograph’, but pays off in the best possible way.
MccGwire has a bachelor degree in Fine Art from and a master in sculpture from Royal College of Art. She won the Heart of Glass Award in 2008 and had several exhibitions under which Museum of Arts and Design in New York. MccGwire recently exhibited in All Visual Arts gallery in London with one of her sculptures.
