MACKINTOSH FOR CONVERSE JACK PURCELL JOHNNY SHOE
This week Converse announced the launch of the Mackintosh for Converse Jack Purcell Johnny shoe and Mac jacket. With equal parts both refined and rebellious, the Jack Purcell shoe has a timeless casual style that blends perfectly with the clean, elegant simplicity of Mackintosh.
About 75 years ago, Converse launched the Jack Purcell shoe, which was originally designed for badminton. In the 50s, young, rebellious icons of film quickly adapted the shoes and made it a classic in footwear.
Mackintosh arrived on the scene more than 150 years ago with a utilitarian mission to provide warm and dry rainwear for the citizens of rainy Great Britain. With a history of wearers ranging from British police forces to Duke’s of York, the classic rainwear has cemented a high-function, high-fashion legacy worldwide.
Now these iconic brands joined forces, using signature Mackintosh waterproof rubberized cotton in the three limited edition versions of the classic shoe, merging some of the best elements of American and British style. Mackintosh has also created matching versions of its iconic single breasted Mac jacket in identical colors and materials as the shoes. The shoes include a version in navy blue with a lime interior, a version in putty with a chocolate interior, and a version with dark olive and a deep plum interior.
As part of Converse First String – Converse’s premium product line that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and pure expression – the shoes will be available across select Converse First String doors worldwide, such as Colette, Wood Wood, Limited Editions, Nitty Gritty, Precinct 5 and Denham.
Only 120 jackets will be available to be sold exclusively alongside the shoes at the newly opened Mackintosh flagship store in London and at Dover Street Market, Oi Polloi, End and Hanon in the UK. The collection will be launched on April 29 at Denham the Jeanmaker and Precinct 5 in Amsterdam. Check out a preview below.
