Sabrina Ratté

Montreal-based video artist Sabrina Ratté creates amazing experimental pieces of work that are mainly inspired by early computer art and science fiction, and build up with tools that everyone has access to, such as digital and VHS cameras and a television for image capture. On Ratté’s Vimeo account several inspirational videos are on display.

We’ve selected her beautiful video for the Boxcutter track TV Troubles, taken from his album called The Dissolve, which will be released by the end of this month. Boxcutter, who’s real name is Barry Lynn, contacted Ratté after coming across her work and left her completely free in creating whatever she thought fitted the sound of his track. Along with creating her own videos, Ratté curates and edits a blog called Diamond Variations, dedicated to works representing the electronic nature of video and sound.
