Visual artist Jonathan Zawada lives and works in Australia, where he creates incredible large-scale oil paintings and drawings of fictive landscape topographies. Zawada works in a rather unusual way: first he looks for statistics of any kind that contain graph data, displayed as printed mirrors on accompanying plinths, which he then models in 3D and uses as the baseline for his paintings. These pieces turn out to be really colorful and expressive. With titles like Sleepless Nights Keep Couples Together Zawada’s work seems to be a new form of abstract realism.
