It’s amazing what some people can do with paper. Check out the work of artist Jen Stark (1983, Miami, Florida). The majority of her art consists of crazy, colorful paper sculptures. She also works with drawing and animation, using microscopic patterns in nature, wormholes, and sliced anatomy as inspiration. Replication, infinity and repetition are key, and make her work both mathematically precise and organic. No digital programs are used, it’s just sketching and slicing for Jen.
Jen studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA majoring in Fibers with a minor in Animation. She attended the Center for Art and Culture in Aix-en-Provence, France as well. She has exhibited her works in various galleries around the U.S. and she was a recipient of the prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium’s Visual and Media Artists Fellowship in 2008.
