Thijs Zweers’ (1986, The Netherlands) works were introduced to us last week. After a quick look it was clear; his pencil drawings are quite impressive!
Thijs studied Fine Art at the art academy in Amsterdam, which is now called MIX. He recently graduated from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem and lives in Amsterdam. For his graduation thesis he started an ongoing research for the possibility to move the imagination from the individual through space and time by using the Internet, television, photography, and other records of a certain zeitgeist.

Images, objects and shapes – all found on the Internet – are being rearranged and elevated into a whole new organic context. Thijs’ drawings convert the virtual info into balanced matter. His new worlds take the viewer on a journey, which can be quite dark sometimes.
At the moment he’s working on a Augmented Reality exhibition with artist Viktor Baltus.
