Tom Beddard (1976, London) knows how to make mathematics interesting. Tom has a fascination with the aesthetics of detail and complexity that is the result of simple mathematical or algorithmic processes. He started making mathematics creative by writing his own software and scripts to explore the resulting output in an interactive manner. He shares them via his blog, so visitors can install and try the software themselves.

Tom studied physics at Nottingham University and then moved to Scotland to do a PhD in laser physics at the University of St Andrews. After graduation, the booming world of the dot com internet was more appealing to him than academia and he became a web developer specialising in ecommerce and content management systems. He currently works at Glasgow based 55 Degrees, who have a wide gamut of expertise specialising in interactive museum exhibits, video production and enterprise level systems integration.
Check out his website for more mesmerizing images, and to download the software.
