With the fun and creative video above, CHANEL recently launched CHANEL Confidential. This digital platform – dedicated to CHANEL makeup – showcases creative director of CHANEL makeup Peter Philips’ universe and creations. Who would have thought this universe is all about robots?

The video is starring 5 of them, entirely composed of CHANEL makeup products, that fly, jump and even strike a pose. ‘A few years ago I made these little robots, that were part of a headpiece I created for a tribal makeup shooting… that’s where the idea first came from’, explains Peter Philips, ‘I then had the chance to play with these characters and do an animation, that’s how my little robots came to life.’

After studying graphic design in his native country Belgium, Peter Philips went to Antwerp’s Académie des Beaux Arts, where he enrolled on the prestigious fashion design course. Assisting former students at their Paris ready-to-wear shows, he was particularly inspired by the make-up teams’ backstage experimentation. On graduation he made this his focus and began groundbreaking collaborations with his Antwerp contemporaries, many of which continue to the present day.
