Maarten vanden Eynde

Belgian Artist Maarten vanden Eynde was born in Leuven but moved to Ghent, Los Angeles and Amsterdam in order to study at several art academies. After finishing up his education in 2010, Vanden Eynde started dividing his time between Rotterdam, Brussels and Saint Mihiel in France. Here, he questions the effects of globalization and unravels the process of evolution.

The 33-year-old artist uses nature as his canvas and focuses on several techniques and art forms such as ceramics, stone, metal, wood, video, photography, installation and performance. For a festival called Cement (concrete), Vanden Eynde developed a stage deep down in a forest in Maastricht, The Netherlands. At night the public came by bus and was confronted with a disco lightshow and a pounding song called Move Your Ass by Scooter. This project, Rave Nature, is just one example of the artist’s exceptional take on art and nature.
