The disappearance of Alice Creed
How many movies can you name that have just three cast members and no extras whatsoever? This is just one part of the reason why The Disappearance Of Alice Creed is such a fascinating movie. With most of the scenes filmed in a small apartment and not that much conversation going on through the entire movie, it is quite funny realizing that we’ve been completely struck for the total runtime of 96 minutes.
The Disappearance Of Alice Creed tells the tale of two criminals, Vic and Danny, kidnapping a rich girl, Alice, in order to blackmail her father. To tell a little bit more about the narrative would spoil some great twists and turns, but let’s just say things don’t run smoothly and the seemingly straightforward plot becomes extremely intriguing. Despite the low-budget setting, actors Eddie Marsan, Martin Compston and Gemma Arterton bring across the tension of the situation in a very genuine way. Directed by debutant J. Blakeson, this gritty British thriller is a must see.
Detail: The movie’s last scene features a brilliant song by Cathy Davey called Holy Moly
