BLEND 4 La Belle Époque

What Andy Warhol was to New York in the 1960s, Dutchman Kees van Dongen was to Paris in the 1920s; a society artist and bohemian who added color and excitement to the city. Rotterdam’s Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen currently presents a wide-ranging view on the life and work of painter Kees Van Dongen.

While researching the life of maverick Kees van Dongen, we noticed a striking resemblance in the way Van Dongen and Warhol both used their social network in order to increase their popularity and gain inspiration. While both of these artists have passed, a new generation of social active artists arose. To give you a little insight in this fascinating breed of creatives, we present you a selection of images depicting the life of Van Dongen, Warhol and modern photographer Terry Richardson.
