Photographer James Mollison
After growing up and studying in England, photographer James Mollison moved to Italy where he started working at Benneton’s creative lab called Fabrica. His work has been featured in all sorts of publications for media such as Benneton’s Colors, The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian magazine and Le Monde.
Mollison became known for his intriguing documentary style, especially for his 2004 series called James And The Other Apes. For this project Mollison photographed numerous gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos and orangutans using the aesthetic of the passport photograph. He tried to explore and capture differences in the behavior of man and animals. For his exhibition of 2008 called Disciples, Mollison spent three years photographing fans outside different concerts, exploring the different tribes of people that attended them. Check out some more of his anthropologist images after the jump.
