Anish Kapoor’s exhibition in India

Scurve by Anish Kapoor

Mumbai-born artist Anish Kapoor spent over ten years looking for a location in India that’s capable of housing his humongous sculptures. Eventually he ended up using two locations; New Delhi’s National Gallery of Modern Art and the Mehboob Film Studios in Mumbai. The London-based designer divided his entire collectionof pieces into two parts, each of the two locations features a different strand of his work.

The National Gallery of Modern Art had to expand the entrance to its new wing to get some of Kapoor’s epic sculptures inside, including his stainless steel S-Curve. The gallery also hosts some of his smaller, seminal pigment pieces from the 1980s, which reference piles of powdered pigment found in traditional Indian markets. Kapoor’s Indian exhibition is on display until February 27.
