One of my favorite new artists this year that emerged from Berlin’s dust is the heart crooning electro man Dan Bodan. His music is much like those early morning sunrays you squint your eyes to, while you half drunk and drugged out canter out of the club. Crisp wet air filling your nostrils while you slowly get to your senses trying to remember what exactly happened a few hours ago – a picture not so unfamiliar to Berlins ‘nightlife’. Dan has one of those voices you instantly fall in love with, while you wonder simultaneously if he’s playing you or if he actually really means it – completely and utterly irresistible. This is going to be heartbreak and you know it.

Originally from Canada residing in Berlin he has released a couple of avant-ballads this year. Aaron/DP and Under The Cancer Sky can be found on DFA records. For the later on the same 7” Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip covered the song. There is more of Dan Bodan scattered out over the worldwide web which I soon hope will take shape into a full length. Until then Google is your friend.
