‘The Maybe’ is a 1995 performance piece by Tilda Swinton. The piece consists of Swinton sleeping in a glass box during visiting hours of the Museum. Currently the piece is on display at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York. Nobody knows when she will be in, so you can either miss her or catch her performing the piece. I guess you’ll just have to be lucky. Interesting enough is that there was also no publicity or any announcement of the piece being installed. The MOMA said in a statement: “An integral part of ‘The Maybe’s’ incarnation at MoMA in 2013 is that there is no published schedule for its appearance, no artist’s statement released, no museum statement beyond this brief context, no public profile or image issued. Those who find it chance upon it for themselves, live and in real-shared-time: now we see it, now we don’t.”
