ACNE launches Curater, a service to stream art to your walls
Acne Studios is about to launch Curater, the world’s first digital art exhibition system that displays images of exclusive artwork from renowned artists in collaboration with the leading art institutions and curators of today. The founders of Curater are Johan Holmgren and Victor Press who aim at showcasing six to eight exhibitions per year through high-definition and wireless LED canvases that can be displayed around your home. With built-in Wi-Fi and smartphone or tablet operated remotes, the idea is to project the works of carefully selected artists onto the canvases.
“To be able to consume art on a digital platform we had to create a new type of product that lets people enjoy the true experience of an art piece. Something no computer or smartphone can accomplish today,”explains Johan.
The project starts out as a closed subscription based program that is invitation only on curater.se. The duo are nonetheless making it possible to register interest in advance, with a chance to win one of 50 free frames that will be allocated at random.
‘Curater’ is the answer to the rapid art digitalization that happens today around the world,’ says Johan Holmgren, head of ACNE R&D and founder of Curater. ‘To be able to consume art on a digital platform we had to create a new type of product that let people enjoy the true experience of an art piece. Something no computer or smartphone can accomplish today.’ ‘For a reasonable monthly fee you’ll experience the very best art, right in your home,’ adds Victor Press, CEO of ACNE.
