MoMu NOW

MoMuNow

MoMu Now: Contemporary Fashion from the Collection of the MoMu, taking place from 25th September 2015 until 4th January 2015, will display a unique selection of contemporary silhouettes from the MoMu collection. This collection encompasses 25.000 objects, predominantly clothing and accessories, to which about 7.000 new items have been added during the last five years thanks to purchases, gifts and long-term loans. The MoMu focuses both on historical pieces of clathing and contemporary Belgian designers. The MoMu purchases silhouettes that are prime examples of rigourous craftmanship, daring concepts and avant-garde visual language. All of these elements from the collecting policy become clear in MoMu Now.

The exhibition will contain pieces by Raf Simons, Haider Ackermann, Walter van Beierendonck, Veronique Branquinho, AF Vandevorst, Ann Demeulemeester, Christian Wijnants, and Peter Pilotto. Next to silhouettes gifted by Belgian (a.o. Delvaux) and foreign fashion houses (a.o. Balenciaga, Helmut Lang).

JilSander

The exhibition will highlight the work by Raf Simons for his own men’s line, but also his work for houses as Jil Sander and Christian Dior. MoMu obtained a vast amount of pieces from Raf Simons’ own archives, but also purchases new silhouettes every season. By showing the combination of his work for different target groups (men, women, couture and ready-to-wear), his craftmanship and artistic codes will become visible.
