The second place went to the German Alexander Becherer for ‘Paratropolis’, a miniature city that’s never finished and keeps expanding. Ramon Schoonbrood from Belgium went home with the third place for his work ‘My Worthless Life’ that always adapts itself to the space in which it’s placed, rendering it a temporary sense.

That is why the winner of the third place gets one day to follow in the footsteps of an experienced art expert who will provide him/her with the necessary tips and hints to make it in the art world. The second place consists of a unique solo exhibition in a selected gallery and a trip to Art Paris. The winner of the coveted firs place will be coached by a mentor for a whole year, during which he will take the essential steps in building a successful art career. The winner will also be invited to the contemporary art fair Art Basel Miami Beach and he will receive a sum of €1500 to invest in his own career.

The jury will be composed of Yasha Young (curator and journalist), Walter Gehlen (president of ART.FAIR and BLOOOM), Catharina Cramer (the Warsteiner CEO) and two prominent artists: Olaf Heine (photographer) and Robert Kaltenhäuser (author and curator).

BLOOOM Award is Warsteiner’s way of supporting young talent and offering them a platform to get noticed by the general audience. The art competition is part of a long family tradition in art and design. 30 years ago Andy Warhol immortalized the iconic Warsteiner tulip glass in his work. Warsteiner has been supporting the Dutch fashion and art scene with his seeding programme.
