Daft Punk + Boards of Canada
Curious about the inside cover of Daft Punk’s upcoming album ‘Random Access Memory’? Have a look at the video below to view the packaging of the gatefold double LP and hear a brief glimpse of the opening track ‘Give Life Back to Music’. It is rumoured that the album will be available for streaming on iTunes from midnight, but who knows with those merciless taunters of Daft Punk. Some already call today #daftpunkday.
Scottish electro ambient duo Boards of Canada have announced their upcoming album in a similar fashion: expectations are running high ever since their mysterious vinyls popped up in record stores around the globe on Record Store. The first 12” was found in New York and contained a recording of the numbers “9-3-6-5-5-7” recited in a robotic voice. The cover read “—— / —— / —— / XXXXXX / —— / ——” and incited speculations of there being 6 vinyls which could form the key to the puzzle.
The second vinyl surfaced in London and incited even more rumours, since it contained a recording of the numbers “7-1-7-2-2-8”.
After a few days of speculation, their record label confirmed the release of a new album called ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’. It will be a highly anticipated album, also because of the 8 year gap between this and the previous album of the Scottish duo.
The first videos have already been released:
