Benefit for Dimitri in TrouwAmsterdam on 5th May

Dimitri 600 x 600-1

Dimitri, one of the pioneers of the Dutch dance scene and resident of TrouwAmsterdam, is not doing well. Recently, his lower leg has been amputated and he faces years of recovery. On top of that, he is now unable to continue his work as a DJ, which has resulted in financial difficulties. That is why Trouw has decided to organise a benefit night on 5th May of which the total revenu will be donated to Dimitri.

Dimitri has played a huge role in the rise of the Dutch dance scene and is viewed as a great source of inspiration for many artists. Two months ago, he was taken into a hospital where they discovered a bacteria in his foot. Further research indicated that Dimitri was suffering from a thrombosis which influences the blood supply to his foot. This resulted in the amputation of a part of his leg. He will have to recover for a long period of time and he will be unable to work. This exposes an issue lots of artists have to deal with: if they have not taken out a disability insurance, they will not receive unemployment alimony in case something happens to them as it did to Dimitri. Trouw organises this benefit to signalize this problem and to support Dimitri.

On Sunday 5th May, Trouw organises ‘Trouw on Sunday for Dimitri‘. The total income of tickets, bar and wardrobe will be donated to Dimitri. Many Trouw residents will play records, among which Joost van Bellen, Tom Trago, San Proper, Melon, Makam, Boris Werner, William Kouam Djoko, Serge, Patrice Bäumel, Olaf Boswijk, Jean Pierre Enfant, Sandrien, Jasper Wolff, and Maarten Mittendorff. Some of Dimitri’s friends will also contribute musically, such as Steve Rachmad, Awanto3, Aron Friedman, Eric de Man, and Carlos Valdes. Trouw’s crew will work for a free that night and old RoXY crewmembers will help out as well.

The ticket sales will be donated to Dimitri entirely and you can choose between tickets worth €15/25/50/100. Ticketscript contributes by not billing the administration costs. Trouw has also opened up a bank account for Dimitri to which gifts can be transferred: NL46RABO0197600255 attn. ‘Trouw op Zondag voor Dimitri’.
