IN THE NAME OF VACUUM LOVE

How fantastic would it be if some moments in life could last forever? How beautiful would it be to preserve that intense moment of love? Japanese photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi has quite a literal solution for this;  vacuum wrap it in plastic. For his photography project Flesh Love he invites couples to preserve the love they have for each other by stepping into a plastic bag, lie down on his kitchen floor, and let the air be sucked out of the bag (takes approx 10-20 seconds). Though the thought behind it is quite cute, the effect is quite gruesome visually. I immediately had to think of those vacuum wrapped heavily deformed chicken-tenders you see at the supermarket cooling. Luckily no one really gets harmed in the process, but I advise not to try this at home – it is in need of quite some assistance (see video). Apparently the men freaked out more so than the women, one even peed his pants during process. The things people do in the name of love. It’s very fetish.
