THE CASE OF CASEY
The ideas on gender diversity and what can be or should be considered feminine or masculine has been a topic for a while now within popular culture with for example magazines like Luis Venegas’s Candy and models like the androgynous Andrej Pejić and the transgender Lea T. posing for International renowned fashion brands. So far the emphasize largely has been on male to female representation, but every now and then the reverse is highlighted. Which is of course a welcome change – the more diverse the better. In the may issue of US Vogue there is a feature on the amazing Casey Legler, who not so long was the first woman to get signed with Ford’s male model division. Earlier she booked an editorial with French Vogue shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. Its great Vogue is picking up on this.
