Never Wither
The newest project of Beelddragers is a solo exhibition by analogue photographer Dennis Duijnhouwer, called ‘Never Wither’. Over seven years ago, he took his first photo of a fake plant. Something about this scene intrigued him. It’s a green coloured still life which will never wither, hence the name of the exhibition and project. Why do fake plants exist? What is their role in our streets? Ever since then, fake plants can’t escape his lens and his archive is still expanding endlessly.
On Friday 26th April, Beelddragers opens ‘Never Wither’ in Galerie Bart, Bloemgracht 2 in Amsterdam. It’s the first time these archive images will find their way to the eyes of the general audience. Dennis is known for his (predominantly) Amsterdam street photography. His other interests are animal prints, 2Pac, and bad graffiti. This exhibition is unique, because it’s a project on which Duijnhouwer has worked since seven years. He shows stilled portraits of striking fake plants in surprising locations in Amsterdam and elsewhere. His fascination for the unnoticed offers the audience a new perspective and a greater awareness for the details around us and the stories behind them.
The opening takes place on 26th April and the exhibition can be visited on 27th and 28th April in Galerie Bert. On Sunday 28th April, visitors are invited to join the Q&A with Dennis Duijnhouwer. Places for this are limited and cost €5 each. Reserve your place through [email protected]
