World Minimal Music Festival starts today

Today, World Minimal Music Festival starts in both Amsterdam and Eindhoven. The headliners were already known, and now the daily side programs and timetable are on-line as well.

From 3rd until 7th April, the Amsterdam side program will contain over 25 activities in collaboration with on-line jukebox 22tracks.com and music/culture platform Subbacultcha! They present minimal music by inviting a wide range of international electronic artists, such as American house producer Maxmillion Dunbar, DJ Awesome Tapes From Africa (who creates mixes with African cassette tapes), and Berlin DJ Heatsick who can mesmerize a complete venue with just a Casio keyboard.

Next to these shows, there are other activities such as a minimal yoga lesson with live music, a 21-hour concert marathon from Saturday 23h until Sunday20h, and minimal art by Daan Roosegaarde, Volfango Pecoraio, and Boris Tellegen. Daan Roosegaarde’s ‘FLOW’ consists of hundreds of fans which react to passers-by, whereas Volfango Pecoraio brings a piece on which visitors can make their own minimal music. Boris Tellegen, in his turn, has made the sculpture which is found next to the stairs of Muziekgebouw Amsterdam and which welcomes the visitors of WMMF.

The Amsterdam opening night on Wednesday 3rd April features a panel discussion about the influence of minimal music since the 60s and a remix session by 22tracks.com in which five young producers remix Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato.

Tickets and the complete timetable (also for the Eindhoven program) are available at www.minimalmusicfestival.nl
